Text Box: Minnesota Program Development, Inc. (MPDI)
This is a non-profit corporation formed in 1980, which works towards eliminating violence in the lives of women and their children. MPDI recognizes that gender inequality is not the only form of inequality operating in the lives of women. All forms of institutionalized oppression - racism, classism, heterosexism, and ageism increase the vulnerability of women to both individual acts of violence and to institutionalized acts of violence. MPDI’s mission is to eradicate one form of violence that women experience – battering, and to work collaboratively with other progressive agencies or organizations seeking to reduce violence within our society.
Together, MSH-TA and MPDI recognize the right of Native people to self-determination in all aspects of community life, and focus our program development accordingly. We are also committed to structure relationships within our agency to reflect our goal of creating a society based on egalitarian principles. We work in teams, make group decisions whenever possible, and recognize that equality embraces difference. We are committed to ensuring that all major decisions within the agency reference back to the goal of improving the lives of Native American and non-Native American women and children.
